Founded in 2005, Gaumarjos is the UK's leading importer and distributor of Georgian wines. We spend time with the winemakers to understand their traditional techniques, taste each wine and bring the very best to Britain's shores. We import directly from the producers and maintain substantial stocks of more than thirty wines in our warehouse.
Cradle of Wine
Archeologists believe wine making started in the South Caucasus around 7000 years ago. This is where the grape originates, and where the world's oldest wine making equipment was found. Georgian grape varieties such as the inky Saperavi, the fruity Rkatsiteli and the delicate Mtsvane, are the ancestors of grapes grown everywhere else in the world.
Georgian controlled appellations such as Mukuzani, Tsinandali, Kindzmarauli and Khvanchkara, have long been well-known in Eastern Europe. For political reasons, these were largely unknown in the western world. A new generation of winemakers has invested in equipment and expertise to produce consistent quality wines that have won medals in many international competitions, including Decanter, International Wine Challenge and IWSC.
We are proud to serve restaurants and wine retailers throughout the UK. We enjoy solid demand from UK ex-patriate communities as well as growing interest from discerning British wine drinkers. We can support our wine merchant clients with marketing materials, events in your area including tutored tastings, web listings and personal service.
